Certification

COSA offers certification in conjunction with its classes.  The areas of certification include, but are not limited to.

Carbon Monoxide Certification - To ensure public health and safety the following occupations need to be aware of Carbon Monoxide dangers and remediation procedures; First Responders (Fire Department EMT personnel and other Paramedics), Inspectors (local government and independent home inspectors), Technicians (HVAC, Plumbers, and utility company workers).

Combustion Analysis Certification -  This certification is designed to ensure that technicians possess the knowledge necessary to guarantee maximum fuel efficiency, safety, reduction in warranty claims, and extended appliance life.

Universal R-410A Certification -  R410A operates at considerably higher pressures than R22 and requires the use of special tanks, gauges and recovery equipment. R-410A systems employ thicker walled tubing, newly developed compressors, and a higher grade oil that requires different installation and service procedures.  Technicians must understand the safe handling, proper charging procedures, and operating characteristics of R410A systems.

Green Awareness -  Specification, application and use of products that reduce the amount of carbon are considered to be “Green.” Green buildings incorporate a green infrastructure which is made up of plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems that have green components or produce green results. Several considerations are given to green buildings such as the site selection; quality and conservation of water; systems, materials and resources; energy efficiency; and indoor environmental quality. The exam consists of Green concepts, systems, terminology, products, and how mechanical technicians interact with green systems.
