*January thru May, 2010: COSA has been contracted to be involved with a landmark training program in Bismarck, ND at United Tribes Technical College.
The project includes January thru May (Monday thru Saturday, 40 contact hours per week) of focused and advanced Energy Auditor training to Native Americans
representing 14 different tribes from 8 states.
This is the first program of its kind to be offered specifically for tribal participants. It has been an exclusive classroom setting the first 6 weeks now and we will soon be taking the
individuals through a variety of hands on exercises that will include heat loss calculations, insulation evaluations, infiltration and exfiltration discovery, heating and air distribution systems,
combustion appliance assessments, client education, air conditioning assessments, building and duct pressure diagnostics, safety, electrical system assessments and the implementation of
measures to fit a savings to investment ratio for payback purposes.
Partnering with the United Tribes Economic Development Department are the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development and the United Association of Journeymen and
Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA). The not-for- profit group HVAC Excellence has in turn been contracted by UA to
develop and implement curriculum to fit this needed program and they in turn have looked for industry educators to provide various instructional segments. A special thanks also
goes out to the ND Department of Commerce Weatherization Program and the MN Department of Commerce, Energy Security Division for their technical support in this program.
